About Me
I am a retired autoworker. My spiritual journey starts as a serious Roman Catholic youth. I decided to enter a high school seminary for the priesthood. By my junior year, I abandoned plans for being a priest and became interested in the anti-war, civil rights and labor movements. Most of my adult life was spent as a political activist. Political activism is still very much a part of my life, but from 1997-present, Islam has been my life. I studied Islam for almost 2 years before taking Shahada in 1999. I still have a lot to learn. When I retired from Chrysler in 2007, I was a member of my local UAW bargaining committee- an elected position. A note of interest: people opposed to my holding union office tried to use my being a Muslim against me, (not to mention my past as a communist). It was, I believe Allah's will for me to win in order to test me. Now, besides being an active member of a masjid that I live next to, I'm home schooling my 16 year old granddaughter who lives with my wife and I. All of us along with my 31 year old step-son and my sister-in-law are Muslims. Wa Salaam, Brother Timothy Kaminski
