dear cathytatum...the brother AbrahimAli has shared supplications that one can make to the Creator of the heavens and earth and all between....if you are interested in learning about islam one has to go to the source of information that comes from Allah...God, The Creator of all who has sent guidance for mankind just as He has provided mankind with all his needs He has provided mankind with the necessary information and guidelines on which mankind should make it the standard of life..in a world that suffers the diseases of moral degradation, drug abuse, crime, wars, rascism, imperialism, zionism and all other isms the world is in need of a system that is based on justice and mercy..which Islam provides..islam is an ideology that frees the mind from all the propaganda of the media and lies spewed by those in power..the Quran is the true words of Allah(The Creator and Sustainer of all) and has lessons for mankind to pay heed to so that they can live a life where there is balance as we see in the creation of Allah...what is known as nature is balanced..it is only man's interference that has upset the ecosystems and the other systems that affect all...the Quran is explained by the life of the Prophet of Allah which we Muslims drive lessons from and whom we try to follow his lead...Allah has always appointed prophets and messanger from the first man Adam, to prophets and messengers like Noah,Abraham, Isaac,Ishmail, Moses and Jesus son of Mary peace and blessings be upon them all..then Allah sent His final messenger Muhammad to guide mankind to conform to the Lord of the Heavens and earth and all that is between i.e. Allah, we are to conform to Allah's power presence and authority in our human affairs..we are to be cautious of Allah's justful corrective punishment  and this is what helps one to avoid doing things that are immoral and evil...and He promises those who follow His path Paradise and those who deny Him Hellfire...i hope i have been able to give you a breif understanding of Islam
